Access to Music is a partnership project between Walsall Music Education Hub and Walsall Virtual School to enable all Looked After Children in Year 4 to have weekly instrumental lessons on an instrument of their choice. Six months into the project we assessed the impact through a series of questions to the music teachers, school teachers, the students and their carers. 100% of respondents said that the music lessons help to improve the mood of the student if they are having a bad day, having a positive impact on other areas of study and noting improvements such as 'better focus', 'greater willingness to learn', 'a sense of achievement', 'improves confidence and communication' and 'makes them feel proud'.....among other things.
