The Walsall Music Education Service, which is part of Walsall Council, provides high quality specialist music education to children and schools across Walsall.
Every week, staff from Walsall Music go into both primary and secondary schools to provide music lessons on a variety of instruments including Trumpet, Clarinet, Violin, Guitar, Piano, Drums and Vocal Lessons to name a few. This is run both as traditional one-to-one or small group lessons or can involve teaching a whole class how to play an instrument.
In addition to this, Walsall Music runs three evening Music Centres, which take place at Walsall Arena & Arts Centre, as well as at Blue Coat Academy. These evenings host a wide range of different ensembles, everything from Wind Bands and String Groups, through to Jazz Groups, Rock n Pop Bands, Choirs, and a Percussion Ensemble too.
Walsall Music has taught generations of young musicians across Walsall, many of whom have gone on to enjoy music later in life, be that as a hobby, or professionally as either a teacher or musician.
Walsall Music also runs big events and projects, such as the Christmas Sing, Walsall Young Music Star competition, Composition project in collaboration with the New Art Gallery Walsall, Singing Festival, the Bandstand Bonanza, and the ‘Live Music’ staff band show which entertains and inspires children in schools throughout the year.
