British Art Show 9 Arts Award Fund: Open to West Midlands secondary schools, colleges and FE settings. Applications close: Monday 16th November 2020.

Arts Connect are offering to support 10 education settings from across the West Midlands through providing training, funding, and support to embed Bronze or Silver Arts Award accreditation within their British Art Show 9 inspired creative programmes. We want to enable teachers and creative educators to build exciting learning and progression opportunities for their students using Arts Award framework. The British Art Show 9 Arts Award Fund includes-
•           Bronze and Silver Arts Award training for one member of staff- Online January 2021.
•           £250 to support the planning, delivery and assessment of Arts Award programmes.
•           A guided tour of British Art Show 9 and a practical workshop led by Wolverhampton School of Art (University of Wolverhampton.)
•           Opportunities to showcase students work and access Arts Award specific support, networking and CPD events.
 
The British Council is inviting applications for creative commissions that bring together art, science and digital technology and offer innovative responses to climate change. Apply by 13 December 2020 for a grant of up to £50k. Collaborate with international partners and realise your creative idea The commissions will be part of the cultural programme in the build up to the United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26), which the UK is hosting in Glasgow in November 2021. They are inviting collaborative applications from individuals and organisations in the UK with partners from eligible countries and states overseas.

Arts Council Launch - The Way I See It, a new online collection in collaboration with Google Arts & Culture and five partner organisations which celebrates children and young people’s creativity.   The Way I See It showcases art made by children and young people and their creative responses to lockdown and life after lockdown. From painting to poetry, drama to dance, music to stop-motion animation, their creativity is boundless; they are artists. This collection is the result of a collaboration between Arts Council, Google Arts & Culture and five organisations: BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Company Three, Dancefest, English National Opera and Heart n Soul.
Help us share the project! - make sure you tag @ace_national, @googlearts and use #HereForCulture to help us share The Way I See It and celebrate these young artists.

Hello from ENO!  I'm Bradley and I work for English Touring Opera and I head up the Learning & Participation department.   We have developed a new online, curriculum-based show for KS2 audiences about the physicist Ibn al-Haytham, and his discoveries relating to light due to be released in January 2021.    The show will be provided with a teacher's pack and lesson plans for Key Stage 2 teachers.  See attached flyer for more details of how to book.
£30 plus VAT per school (schools with 25% pupil premium can request the show/ pack for free)

Moonbeams Workshop - ‘No Toilets for Tigers’ – A Practical Workshop on Story-Making
and Drama Approaches for early years

Peter Wynne-Wilson was the drama worker on the first Moonbeams project in 2002, and he
brought his skills and ideas developed in a career as a theatre writer and performer. He has
found many of those same approaches are naturally at home in early years. In this practical
online session, he will share his approaches, using drama techniques and story-making to
develop language and creativity with and for early years, including 0-5-year olds.
Please bring with you a ‘moonbeam’ memory to share – one funny/memorable/creative thing
that you have heard or seen from, or by, a baby or young child. No experience is needed; it will be an engaging and practical workshop and open to all abilities and backgrounds.

#STARTS Staffordshire Teachers ARTS Network Saturday 7th November 11-1pm On Zoom Guest Speaker: Belinda Latimer is an Artist and CEP member who specialises in Creative Coaching and Development. Formerly a Secondary HOD and now a practising Artist, based in Cornwall, she is an advocate for participatory arts and their therapeutic benefits. Join Artist, Belinda Latimer, for an online Creative Wellbeing session focussing on the benefits of tea-drinking, creating art using tea as inspiration and to read the precious leaves. A 2-hour session to make, create and relax with tea.

British Art Show 9 – Call for Artists
Call for: A West Midlands based artist/arts organisation specialising in visual contemporary art to work with SEND school - Application deadline: Friday 13th November. The fee is up to £4,700, inclusive of travel and VAT.
We are looking for an artist/s or an arts organisation specialising in visual contemporary art practices to work with a total of 5 SEND schools in the Black Country. The schools will be part of the British Art Show 9 Partner School programme. The commission will begin January 2021 with the artist/arts organisation working with teachers and students to produce a range of visual artworks that will be publicly showcased May 2021. More Than A Moment: Action With & For Black Creatives to radically transform the West Midlands arts and culture sector. The More Than A Moment pledge is the West Midlands Arts sector’s promise to take radical, bold and immediate action, to dismantle the systems that have for too long kept Black artists and creatives from achieving their potential in the arts and cultural industries. Organisations who sign up to the pledge, wholeheartedly commit to ensuring equity, Investment in, and opportunities with and for Black artists and creatives within their organisation’s culture and work, and in doing so, becoming the change we all need to see.

This pledge and process was designed and created in Summer and Autumn 2020 by the More Than a Moment Working Group, in partnership with the Black Creative Workforce and West Midlands Cultural Sector, to be a promise for radical and permanent change.
